A Message - February 2013

By - Alimah Nadia Sadiq Wednesday, February 27, 2013

Alhumdulillah, Allah ta'ala has blessed Nur ul Ilm Academy with the opportunity to serve His deen. We cannot thank Allah ta'ala enough for providing us with this opportunity.

As my dear Shaykh, Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad always says,

“Don’t show a favour on the Creator when you work for Him, but recognize His favour on you, that He chose you to work for Him.”

I feel proud of the beautiful gems of Nur ul Ilm Academy who have progressed in this path of obedience to their Lord. They have indeed put their endless efforts to serve the beautiful deen of Allah ta'ala. They have put hard work in collecting the pearls of knowledge in the baskets of their hearts ensuring that they can weave a precious necklace of wisdom enlightening the world with its light.

Nur ul Ilm Academy provides the spiritual and academic knowledge needed for acquiring that special light from the All Merciful . This light gives us the vision which makes one see in darkness and guides us on the path to the Creator. It can help to fulfill our dreams and remove the veils of ignorance exposing the truth of life.

As it is said,

“How honourable is knowledge, that the one who does not have it says he does, and How dishonourable is ignorance, that the one who has it says he does not."

This knowledge makes our faces glow and our souls shine; this knowledge is greater than the tools of war to invade the territories of ignorance and arrogance.

This knowledge gives us stability to stand upright in obedience to our Lord. It engraves the name of Allah ta'ala on the heart of the seeker.

As Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said,

“Knowledge is my companion, it is with me wherever I go. My heart is its container, not the bookshelf.”

This knowledge brings the zeal of being steadfast and the passion to obey and to make us stand each time we fall.

As Mawlana Rumi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Come! whoever you are. Worshipper, Wanderer, Lover of Leaving; ours is not a caravan of despair. Though you have broken your vows a thousand times...Come, come again, Come.”

Nur ul Ilm Academy provides this knowledge which is better than gold and silver, the treasure which cannot be stolen. This is a thirst which is never extinguished but still keeps us alive.

It is beautifully said,

“Thirst brought me to a water, where I drank the reflection of the moon.”

This knowledge maps out the pathways of life during the journey to the Divine, answers the unknown fears of how we live and how we should die.

As it is said,

“You are the traveller. Going happens by itself, Coming happens to you. There is no arriving or leaving, it’s always a journey.”

This knowledge makes us recognize the good and the evil, beauty and cruelty, joy and destruction that cleanse the consciousness of moral impurities.

As Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said,

“Acquire knowledge and learn tranquility and dignity."

This knowledge knocks at our ignorance, and opens the gates of insight, to remove our sins and disobediences to the One who has all the rights.

As our beloved Hazrat Ibn Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“True knowledge is not measured in relationship to how much you memorize and then narrate, but rather, true knowledge is an expression of piety [protecting oneself from what Allah ta'ala has prohibited and acting upon what He  has mandated]."

This Sacred knowledge plants a seed in the heart and then the crops of enlightenment yields the fruits. These fruits give us strength and also let others rejoice.

So let us all get together and sow these seeds of knowledge in the barren fields of our hearts and together we can feed the hungry!

May Allah ta'ala accept us all.
